The Rite Journey Program

The Rite Journey is a signature program for our Year 9 students and their Pastoral Care teachers.

This program helps to assist our students in guiding their journey into adulthood by raising their consciousness about transitioning from child to adult and having conversations with them about what really matters.

Our year-long program uses a 'Rite of Passage' framework to deepen the students’ experience of this important life transition, including ceremonies, challenges and an overnight ‘solo’ camping experience.

The Rite Journey is a year long program designed to:

  • Acknowledge and celebrate each student’s shift into adulthood
  • Offer conversations and experiences to guide this transition
  • Foster connections with positive adult role models
  • Educate and include parents/carers in the process
  • Connect students with their strengths and build self-awareness
  • Transform school culture by developing responsibility

The Rite Journey has expanded into all other year levels in our Middle School, with new programs that have been developed.

Our Year 6-Year 7 students look at The Heroic Habits program, where students are introduced and explore a 18 qualities/virtues/ habits that are important for life’s journey. These habits build and enhance the emotional literacy of our students and link seamlessly with the habits of our heroes of Faith.

Year 8 students participate in the wellbeing program, Anchored. This program delves into the truth of who we are and how that is an anchor for keeping us grounded during the storms of life.

We are proud to be a Rite Journey Middle School.

"In 2019 I had the pleasure of presenting King's Baptist Grammar School with a Rite Journey Lead School Aware. We created the Lead School initiative as a way of honouring the schools who have led the way with best practice implementation of The Rite Journey for over five years. I was rapt to be able to hand over the aware to the team at King's, who have been exemplary in implementing the program since 2014." -Andrew Lines, The Rite Journey Creator
