The Duke of Edinburgh is an internationally recognised award. It empowers young people to realise their full potential and build a brighter future. Each person who participates in the Award learns a skill, improves their physical well-being, volunteers in their community and undertakes an adventurous journey within a team.

At King’s, we believe in giving our students every opportunity to be their best self. Through encouraging students to improve and challenge themselves, the Duke of Ed guides students on a journey to find their meaning, purpose and passion in life. Duke of Ed is not about being the best at something - it is about challenge, commitment, improvement and contribution.

Pedal Prix involves racing Human Powered Vehicles (HPVs) in an annual series of race events, culminating in a 24 hour race - which is the biggest event of this type in the world. The Pedal Prix vehicles are highly engineered and of lightweight chrome-moly chassis construction to optimise performance, while offering the driver significant crash protection inside a carbon fibre fairing.

While there is a specific opportunity for Year 10 students to undertake a full-year course, involvement in the Pedal Prix program is open to all students in Year 8-Year 12.

King’s offers many student mentoring programs and opportunities. We believe in the value of mentoring relationships and the benefits these can have for all students. Our student mentoring involves well-being groups, social skills groups and Bible study groups. These programs are led by our students, and facilitated and supervised by staff. Students involved learn leadership skills, build confidence and allow for friendships across year levels to flourish.

During the Year 9 Pastoral Care line, students participate in The Rite Journey program. This is a year-long program is specifically designed to help students in their transition from childhood to adulthood. Throughout The Rite Journey, students explore and discover consciousness, connection, communication, challenge and celebration, while focusing on four specific themes throughout the year:

  • Who am I really?

  • How do I get along with others?

  • Is there something more?

  • What do I have to give?

King’s has a proud and respected tradition of producing high quality musicals. Students in Year 6-Year 12 audition, rehearse and collaborate to present Broadway’s best-loved shows to enthusiastic audiences. Students work with experienced practitioners in both on and off stage roles to hone their skills, develop their talents and get a taste of live theatre in a fun and engaging environment. Our productions are performed in our new, state-of-the-art auditorium providing authentic experiences for our budding thespians, preparing them for a future on the stage.
