Welcome to Term 2!
I do trust that the break has been a restful one and that some of the ‘holiday traditions’ that we love and cherish (and that we have been denied) are starting to creep back into our lives. I managed to take a few days... However, spent them moving to a new house and celebrating our youngest son’s 21st birthday. Great times of blessing and family fun, but it is great to be back!
Turning of the Soil
On Wednesday, we celebrated the ‘Turning of Soil’ at our Adelaide Hills Campus in Mount Barker. This significant milestone in the development of our second campus denoted the commencement of construction. Set to open in 2023, the Adelaide Hills Campus will commence with students from ELC to Year 2, and will grow year on year to a capacity of up to 1200 students serving the Adelaide Hills community. Our first Year 12 students should be graduating in 2033 – imagine that!
The ceremony was attended by the Minister for Education, John Gardner, Member for Kaval, Dan Cregan, Mayor Ann Ferguson OAM and councillors from the Mount Barker Council - together with representatives from Burke Urban (Developers), Hodgkinson Architects and Schiavello Constructions.
My special thanks to Sonia Heard (Governor, King’s Baptist Grammar School Board), Russell Eley (Past Principal), members of the Executive Leadership Team and Prefects for their attendance - and to the Promotions Team for their flawless organisation.
Importantly, we have now received registration for the Adelaide Hills Campus and as such, will be shortly accepting enrolments!
Have a superb Term 2.
Don Grimmett, Principal
