In Week 5, the new King’s Community Centre Auditorium was transformed into the ‘Big Bright Beautiful World’ of Shrek the Musical Jr! Around 100 members of our School Community pooled their collective gifts and talents to present a show filled with energy, enthusiasm, and a lot of laughs!
Like Shrek and Donkey, our company also embarked on a long journey filled with unexpected obstacles. With uncertainty around restrictions adding a few speed bumps along the way, we could not be prouder of our students who rose to the occasion and brought joy to our community through their performances.
Shrek the Musical Jr is a wonderful tale of friendship, acceptance and learning to love who you really are. Shrek and Fiona must learn to be true to themselves, but they couldn’t do it without the support of their (sometimes awkward, always hilarious) friends. They truly are better, together! And so are we, so our heartfelt thanks go to every single person who gave their time to make our show what it was. Our Production Team was supported by a wonderful group of parent and student volunteers across the week, and we are so grateful.
There was so much to learn from our motley crew of fairy-tale creatures, like that “what makes us special makes us strong,” and doing this musical also reiterated that that there is a lot to learn from our brilliant bunch of students. We were privileged to see their hard work, their commitment, and their determination to give their best in each performance.
Perhaps most importantly, we also saw them support and uplift one-another, and use laughter and fun to fuel them to a fantastic final product. A huge thanks to each student involved, and to their families for their ongoing support of our show!
