From the Principal's Home
23 Jul 2021

Good afternoon.

I trust you and your family are managing to negotiate the lockdown and that you are dry and warm.

This is my second ‘Welcome to Term 3’. Regardless of this, my welcome comes with no less enthusiasm and commitment to making the next few days and weeks as fruitful and seamless for you and your child(ren) as possible. Who would have thought - even a week ago - we would be here?

You will be aware that King’s@Home commences on Monday. Yesterday and today's staff have been seeking to contact families to touch base as we prepare.

From Monday:

  • Reception-Year 2 students will be contacted by their class teachers.
  • Year 3-Year 12 students will be working through our online learning platform, SEQTA. All students should have access to this platform and there is a communication from our IT department outlining how we might troubleshoot any computer issues that arise.

Go to the King’s@Home webpage for all information and check emails/SEQTA for communications from teachers.

Please be aware that no teachers will be on-site during lockdown. If you have any questions, please contact us via the live chat on our website - or send an email to your class/pastoral teacher.

We were deeply saddened not to be able to hold our Founders' Day Chapels today and welcome our wider community to the new King’s Community Centre this afternoon. We were, however, able to hold our commencement staff meetings in the Centre prior to the lockdown, which was a blessing. Please stay tuned for a revised date for these events.

It is appropriate at this time that we stop, pause and thank God for His blessings - our safe homes, a loving community and a Government that is working to provide a path out of the situation in which we find ourselves.

I am aware that a growing number of our staff and families are currently in quarantine and battling the lines at COVID testing stations. If that is you, please be assured of our prayers for safety, good health and patience.

Finally, if you do live within 2.5 kilometres of the School (and are not in quarantine!), why not take a walk to our new community café, milk + honey, and enjoy a great coffee. milk + honey is open for takeaway from 9am-1pm and will welcome a social distancing sort of way, of course.

It is at such times that we draw upon community. Please reach out if there is anything we can do to assist.

We are better, together. Stay safe.
