“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”
Genesis 8 vs 22
I love Spring.
I love Spring for many reasons; the blossom on trees signalling the cycle of new life, the hint of warmth in the air signalling the approaching sailing season and the shoots on my roses signalling that I haven’t pruned them too fiercely back in June...when you prune!
At a time when most of us are somewhat anxious (and sick of hearing) about all things ‘pandemic’, it is comforting to be reminded of the words in Genesis: ‘While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease’. This is God’s promise to us following the great flood - that although He knows that we will fail Him, He continues to love us unconditionally and offers each of us salvation.
Spring then, for me, is also confirmation of God’s promise never to destroy everything on earth until Christ’s return on Judgement Day. At this time, all things evil will be destroyed - forever.
