Duke of Edinburgh
14 Jul 2021

On Saturday, 12 students set out on their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Adventurous Journey. The Journey was an Amazing Race which took students through a snapshot of Adelaide’s history.

Saturday’s journey began at School at 9am. Students solved clues and completed challenges through Golden Grove, Modbury, Adelaide City and Glenelg – before eventually arriving at their overnight destination at West Beach at around 5:30pm. They walked a total of 25km over the two days and spent a rain (but fun!) few hours on the West Beach Adventure Climb before heading back to school.

The connections made with other Middle School students and the opportunity to demonstrate independence were highly valued by the participants.

As one group member said, The Adventurous Journey gave me the opportunity to be independent, and learn new skills. The journey was not only fun, but it was also extremely rewarding. We all built connections with new people, including students from other year levels. I’m glad that I participated in the Adventurous Journey because it’s an experience I’ll never forget.” – Caitlyn C
