Mt Barker Campus

Welcome to King's.

Mt Barker Campus Opening in 2023

The vision of King’s Mt Barker Campus is to provide students with an exceptional Christian education from ELC – Year 12.

We are delighted to announce King’s Baptist will be offering a new campus and give families in the Adelaide Hills the same learning opportunities enjoyed by current King’s students. King’s Mt Barker will open for the beginning of the 2023 school year, initially offering  ELC – Year 2 classes and extend the Junior School by one year level each year.  Following this plan, the Middle School will commence in 2027 and the Senior School in 2031 with our first group of Year 12 students graduating in 2033.

King’s Baptist Mt Barker has purchased five hectares of land on Bollen Road in the Newenham development. In association with Burke Urban and Mount Barker District Council, we will deliver a new King’s to serve this growing community and give families in the Adelaide Hills choice, diversity, and quality learning so they and their children can flourish.

A school in partnership with a church is the way we have sought to serve and bless this community since we started in 1983. We trust and pray this new opportunity will bless the Mount Barker community.

Community at the heart of everything

At the heart of what we do is our prosperous, flourishing and engaged community.

Our school will be located in a beautiful pocket of the Adelaide Hills; located on the Western side of Flaxley Road, only 2km from the Mount Barker town centre.

A Reggio Emilia Approach

Our students will thrive in a Reggio Emilia inspired ELC – Year 2 learning environment.

What is Reggio Emilia?

The Reggio Emilia Philosophy is an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education, which values the child as strong, capable and resilient; rich with wonder and knowledge. The Philosophy rides on the coattails of the innate curiosity of children and aims to assist them with understanding their world and who they are in it.

Started by parents in Reggio Emilia, Italy after World War II, the parents believed that a new better approach to teaching their children was required. The program they developed emphasised respect, responsibility and community involvement. Children are allowed to explore and discover in a supportive and rich environment, where the curriculum is created around the children’s interests.

We are excited to announce that we have appointed the Schiavello Group as the builder and we will be breaking ground in June 2021.

Why Newenham?

Four sites were considered and Newenham was identified as the best choice due to its availability, size and location, proximity to land earmarked for ovals and recreation, and the strong community fit for an Independent School like King’s. A new School is a key element of the community infrastructure of the Mount Barker Western Precinct.
