1995 15 Year ReunionWell the end of 2010 saw the class of 1995 reunite after an amazing 15 years! It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces and a real delight to see new ones, in the form of partners, husbands, wives and any other title used these days. We had an amazing turn-out with over 40 people putting their best foot forward and taking the plunge to see just what 15 years had done to those who were such a big part of our impressionable years. (With such a small Year 12 cohort this was a big number!) And no surprises . . . everyone looked great. We had photos playing on the TV screen all night, with pictures ranging from the very early primary years for some, through to the last day of Year 12. It was great to talk about events that some had forgotten and get a glimpse of those that had been heard of, but not seen, for many years. There were lots of hugs, many memories discussed and lots of laughter. It is a real credit to such a fantastic group of people to walk away from school and then 15 years later continue on with conversations, as though a single day had not passed. What an amazingly strong and faith-filled group of people too. There was an unusually high number of people who have been faced with significant medical conditions, tests of faith and character etc since leaving school and yet through amazing strength, family support and trust in God for healing and guidance, have continued to prosper in their lives and many have achieved great things. Whilst no-one has gone on to be a brain surgeon or a rocket scientist, we sure are a bright and successful group of people and it was really nice to hear all about people’s work, hobbies and families. Thanks to all who attended, it was great to see you and to those who had other commitments on the night, we did miss you but hope you will enjoy the photos. And a very big thank you to Chris Dunt who was so supportive of our event, with both her administrative assistance and her attendance on the night.

2000 10 Year ReunionI have to admit that when I first heard about the 10 Year Reunion through Facebook, I did wonder whether I would attend or not. Why would I want to see people I hadn’t seen for 10 years? What would we talk about? Would people think I hadn’t been as successful as they thought I would be in my career? And the list goes on. Talking about the Reunion made me think back to being in Year 12 in the year 2000 and all I have are good memories. This then got me thinking about the person I was back then and that I had so many hopes for the future. I remember thinking in 2000 that by the time our 10 Year Reunion comes around that “I will be SO old by then – I’ll be 27!” It seemed like a lifetime away but looking back it feels like only yesterday we were at school. The class of 2000 10 Year Reunion was held in the Loft Bar at the Maid and Magpie Hotel on Saturday 30 October 2010. The evening was organised by myself and Aaron Burgess, with Sonya Dubrich (nee Malycha) putting together music from our school years. I think, like at previous Reunions, it seemed as if no time had passed at all and it made me wonder why I hadn’t kept in touch with more people. We used Facebook to track down some of the students we didn’t have contact with but there were some we couldn’t get in touch with and sadly they missed out. We had about 55 staff, partners and teachers attend. People travelled from far and wide to catch up with their old school mates. Mr Eley, Mrs Silz and Mrs Dunt were also in attendance. I put together a slide show of photos that scrolled through in the background – some that I had taken throughout the years along with photos from the Yearbooks from 1996 – 2000. These photos brought back memories and some of them showed me how much I have changed, which I’m sure they did for others too. The music was also something that brought back many memories – I remember hearing people say “Do you remember this song! It reminds me of . . . ” on the night. One song that I think has memories for all of us was the Graduation song by Vitamin C (this played at our end of year celebration) – the chorus is fitting for the night:
As we go on, we remember It was a great evening and I know everyone enjoyed the night and catching up on what everyone has been up to in the last 10 years – who is married, who has kids, who went on to further study after 2000, who has travelled the world, bought houses, built houses, moved interstate or overseas, who has their own business and the list goes on. We all left the night talking about the 15 Year Reunion. Even if we don’t see each other for the next 5 years, I know we will have a great night together celebrating the next milestone.
