 Building a Vision and Life of Faith

 ‘And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.’ (Revelation 21:3 NIV)

The development, growth, writing, planning, preparation and presentation of the Faith Studies/Chapel program at King’s is a collaborative experience. Time is given on pupil free days for Faith Studies teams to write, plan and prepare for the term. Many of these teams also give extra time during holidays to meet and plan. Each year concludes with a round-table reflection with representative staff from each planning team. This enables staff to understand the bigger faith story of a student’s experience at King’s. It also provides opportunity to provide input across the year levels for students and staff. This might include staff speaking at different year level Chapels, out growing Buddy program across Years3, 4 and 12, a student or class presenting at a Chapel other than their own.

The outcomes are not just knowledge based, but real, life-giving and practical.

• Reception – Year 5
  Laying the foundation and placing the framework:
  A three year curriculum, based on 4 pillars of faith
• Who is this God we have faith in
• The big picture of our story of faith
• Bible characters of faith
• Building a character of faith

Each student will experience this cycle twice – once in JP & once in Primary

• Years 6 and 7 (GodStuff)
  Building the walls and roof to the foundation and framework
  A two year curriculum, based on God’s/our story of faith
  Each student will experience this cycle once
   
• Years 8 and 9
  Creating the rooms within the walls
  A two year curriculum encouraging the students about their relationship with God, through the person of Jesus Christ and the witness of the Holy Spirit.
  Students will see that God is everything! He is integral to everything that we are and everything that we do.
  We aim to participate in God’s building of students’ faith. The students will be encouraged to celebrate God’s goodness towards us and to share God’s love with others.
   
• Years 10, 11 and 12
  As students begin this final 3 years preparation for their journey through their adult years, they will explore:
• What does (can) this life of faith look like?
• As I orient my life around Jesus, what could this look like?

How do I live in this ‘house of faith’ that has developed over the past 9 years?
